TPWD Inland Fisheries - Hatcheries, 507 Staples Road, San Marcos, TX 78666 GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Regional Director, this position performs routine (journey-level) staff services work, including highly complex and advanced administrative support and technical program assistance for the Inland Fisheries Division.
Work involves coordinating and overseeing high level administrative operations including disseminating information, maintaining files and inventory systems, and providing accounting, budgeting, purchasing, material and property management, and human resources responsibilities.
Serves as purchasing agent and health insurance point-of-contact for the Region.
Regularly interacts and communicates with the general public, department employees, and other constituents.
Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications MINIMUM
Qualifications Education:
Graduation from High School or GED.
Have attended or must attend Texas Building and Procurement Commission's Texas Basic and Advanced Public Purchasing training.
Experience:
Two years of experience as an Administrative Assistant IV.
OR Five years of experience in administrative support work related to office management, budget, purchasing, business administration, or human resources.
Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid Texas class C driver's license.
NOTE:
Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
PREFERRED
Qualifications Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, or closely related field.
Experience:
Experience in local or state government with working knowledge of administrative/human resource related practices, policies, and procedures.
Experience in auditing financial records.
Licensure:
Current Certified Texas Purchaser (CTP) certification, or be able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
