Junior Accountant

SUMMARY
Responsible for various general ledger entries, reconciliations, expense and travel card approvals, and other duties which aid in the preparation of monthly store and regional profit and loss statements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Audits, corrects and journalizes store paid out and paid in entries
Researches and responds to Credit Card transaction inquiries.
Researches, responds to and journalizes Credit Card chargebacks
Reviews and codes expenses.
Reviews purchase card transactions and approves transactions / folders.
Creates journal entries, accrual entries, reviews write check entries, writes off NSF checks and complete reconciliations.
Makes corrections to entries in LAWSON prior to A/P closing if necessary.
Researches and answers questions on selected accounts for the Regional Accountants
Aids in preparation of store and regional financial statements.
Works open receivers
Assists Management with projects as requested.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures while carrying out the responsibilities of position
Attends and participates in all department meetings and company-sponsored management programs as required
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Word & Excel and other 3rd party software as assigned
WORK AVAILABILITY
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by management
Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week or such other hours per day or hours per week as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
